Abstract
Description
Chinese 1002 is designed to help students develop their knowledge of basic vocabulary and sentence patterns to engage in simple conversation regarding topics, including shopping, traveling, daily routine, academic life, and extracurricular activities. Upon successfully completing the course, students should be able to: accurately pronounce the syllable types of standard Mandarin Chinese, inquire and describe basic activities such as shopping, traveling, daily routine, academic life and hobbies, use some basic vocabulary and sentence patterns to engage in simple social interaction, read and recognize about 300-400 Chinese characters, and type Chinese via pinyin input method, apply the basic principles of stroke order in writing Chinese characters, write about 200-300 characters by hand from memory.
