Abstract
The panel addressed the Library’s Archives, Special Collections, & Digital Initiatives and Library Systems & Technology departments efforts to build virtual exhibits. The collaboration would implement a solution that could repurpose digital content within the existing repository, and present it in a fashion that would offer audiences a virtual walk-through of our biannual exhibitions. The inclusion of video, photographs of the exhibit space, and narrative would provide a contextualized user experience. Utilizing Omeka’s FedoraConnector plug-in, the platform would harvest metadata and link to digital images from the Islandora repository for display in the virtual exhibits.
