Abstract
This presentation talks about Spring and Fall Bird Migration and how it is pertinent to Temple University. Temple University is in the center of a major bird migration route in the United States termed the Atlantic Flyway. During this migration, 100 million to 1 billion birds die in the United States due to window strikes. In recent years, the effect of Temple's infrastructure on bird migration and window strikes has been studied more closely. This presentation compiles data from iNaturalist's Bird Safe Philly project, and highlights the locations of collisions and species that are colliding with buildings. It also covers mitigation strategies and what other universities and buildings have done to save energy and birds.
