To identify studies to include or consider for this scoping review, the review team worked with a research librarian (OGC) to develop detailed search strategies for each database. The PRISMA-S extension was followed for search reporting. The research librarian (OGC) developed the search for PubMed (NLM) and translated the search for every database searched. The PubMed (NLM) search strategy was reviewed by the research team to check for accuracy and term relevancy.Description
The databases included in this search are PubMed (NLM), Embase, CINAHL (EBSCOhost), APA PsycINFO (EBSCOhost), Web of Science (Clarivate Analytics), ProQuest Public Health, ERIC (ProQuest), Sociological Abstracts (ProQuest), which were searched using a combination of keywords and subject headings. A grey literature search included ProQuest Dissertations & Theses Global (PQDT), Cochrane Library, Clinicaltrials.gov, TRIP Pro, and MedRxiv. All final searches were performed on June 11, 2024. The full search strategies as reported by the librarian are provided in Appendix(___). A summary of the search results from databases: PubMed (NLM): 161 results Embase: 509 results CINAHL (EBSCOhost): 88 results APA PsycINFO (EBSCOhost): 40 results Web of Science Core Collection (Clarivate Analytics): 239 results ProQuest Public Health: 42 results ERIC (EBSCOhost): 7 results Sociological Abstracts (ProQuest): 26 results The search resulted in 1,233 studies and 376 duplicate studies were found and omitted by the librarian (OGC) using EndNote 20. This resulted in 794 records to screen from databases and 63 to screen from other methods, resulting in a total of 857 records. Studies were screened by title and abstract by two blinded and independent reviewers. If a tiebreaker was needed, a third reviewer was used. This process was repeated for full text screening and data selection. AbstractCitation
