Abstract
Description
In response to the fight against COVID-19, TUCAT, a transdisciplinary team at Temple University, has created an Assembly Guide that describes the tools, materials, and processes required for the mass production of the 3D printed face shield. The face shield consists of 5 elements: 3D printed shield frame, three hole punched clear plastic shield, top foam protective insert (optional), 3D printed elastic adjustment clip (optional), and the elastic strap. This guide is accompanied by five supplemental files that contain the designs for these materials. Unlike resin cast face shields, 3D printing does not require any heavy machinery. The only requirement is access to a 3D printer. For increased production, the standard 0.4 mm nozzle may be switched to a 0.8 mm to decrease print time.
