File list (filenames, directory structure (for zipped files) and brief description of all data files, add additional entries as necessary): A. Filename: ProgramSpreadsheets.zip Short description: 51 spreadsheets that contain the data for this project. Each spreadsheet represents the events for one year of Gen Con, 1968 through 2017, and one spreadsheet that summarizes the others. Includes both the original 51 xlsx spreadsheet files and 61 csv files generated from those xlsx files using the Excel Archiving Tool (https://github.com/mcgrory/ExcelArchivalTool) for open access. 2. Relationship between files, if important for context: Separate scans of physical programs were used to generate the data in the program spreadsheets. 3. Additional related data collected that was not included in the current data package: None 4. Are there multiple versions of the dataset? yes/no No If yes, list versions: Name of file that was updated: i. Why was the file updated? ii. When was the file updated? Name of file that was updated: i. Why was the file updated? ii. When was the file updated? -------------------------- METHODOLOGICAL INFORMATION -------------------------- 1. Description of methods used for collection/generation of data: Data from 2002 and earlier was scanned from physical program books and then OCRed using ABBY Fine Reader. Data post 2002 was already available in digital format. 2. Methods for processing the data: The scans and OCR files of 2002 and earlier data were massaged as needed for formatting into spreadsheets. 3. Software- or Instrument-specific information needed to interpret the data, including software and hardware version numbers: Any program that can read a spreadsheet should work fine. 4. Standards and calibration information, if appropriate: None 5. Environmental/experimental conditions: None 6. Describe any quality-assurance procedures performed on the data: The 2002 and earlier data was all looked at by project staff but only minor corrections to the OCR was made, largely for formatting. Generally, if there was an error in the OCR reading it made its way into these data sets. 7. People involved with sample collection, processing, analysis and/or submission: Several graduate students worked on this project, including Gary Scales, Kaelin Jewell, Luling Huang, and Ritomaitree Sarkar. ———————————————————— DATA-SPECIFIC INFORMATION FOR: [FILENAME] (Repeated as necessary) ———————————————————— 1.
